Best I've Read So Far: We're half way through the year (crazy how time flies!), which top 3 books are the best you've read so far this year?

I've read 40 books so far this year so narrowing it down to my three favourites was very difficult, mostly because I couldn't remember which ones I'd read so had to check my Goodreads reading challenge widget.

I decided to cheat a little bit and I've done my top three books that I picked and my top three books that I've had to review.

The Demon’s Watch is fantasy at its best. Sure, we’ve heard the concept a hundred times before. There’s a mysterious magical object that everyone wants and an anti-hero who’s going to save the day, but there is so much more to The Demon’s Watch than just that, and that is what makes it so great. Joseph Grubb is your unsuspecting hero. Usually goblins are ugly, horrid little beasts but Grubb is actually quite an endearing half-goblin who has been stuck with the short end of the stick for most of his life. That is, until he accidentally comes across a mysterious object on the floor of the tavern where he lives, runs away and is thrown into the adventure of his life!

The Demon's Watch by Conrad Mason

My copy has the proof cover so I don't get to look at this version which makes me a little sad. It certainly gives the impression that it's going to be an exciting "tale of magic and skulduggery" doesn't it? I'm not very far into it but so far The Demon's Watch has proven to be pretty cool and I can imagine that most small boys, and lots of small girls, would adore it. Within the first few pages we have goblins, ogres, pirates, lots of shady grog swilling characters and a fight. Fantastic! Grubb, the main character, is also instantly likely and I really want him to succeed in everything he does. So I'm looking forward to finding out!
